Spotlight Athlete: Lauren Adkins
The Lake Howell junior volleyball player is one of the top players in the state and is helping the Silver Hawks achieve the same accolades.
Adkins, an outside hitter, picked up where she left off in 2008. As a sophomore she racked up 334 kills, 119 digs, and 30 blocks earning her All State-Honorable Mention honors, on the way to a 5A runner-up finish.
In 2009, the 5'11 junior is proving to be just as dominant. She led the way in the team's OVA tournament win this past weekend and picked up 21 kills and four blocks Tuesday night in a sweep against Seminole County rival Oviedo. Through 12 matches her stat line is incredible, 202 kills, 123 digs, and nine blocks.
Although just a junior, she is receiving interest from some of the top volleyball programs in the country including two SEC powers, Florida and Georgia.
