April 22, 2008
April 17, 2008 would be the last baseball game that seniors Chase Siegfried and Eric Lee would ever play on their home field. So they made sure to finish on top over Deltona.
Jumping out to a three run lead, Lyman was in the zone with some solid hitting and some scrappy defense to back it up. However, Deltona stepped up to bat in the third inning with some swagger. Ripping off back to back doubles, they matched the Lyman score 3-3.
Against the superior pitching, both teams struggled late in the game to get a hit, but Lyman Mike Tomlin broke the dry spell with a loud sounding crack of his bat. Hitting the ball over the 330-foot back wall, this junior added a few runs to the Lyman scoreboard to putting the Greyhounds ahead.
Deltona made a strong effort to come back during the sixth inning with two runners on base and only two outs. But Lyman pitcher Scottie Allen struck out the next Deltona batter, sending the two base runners back to the dugout scoreless. Lyman would finish this match-up on top, 6-5. Congratulations Lyman seniors on your last home win!
